Sydney University builds an Indigenous Knowledges portal with Holly in 4 weeks

Sydney University, in partnership with Warburton Arts, faced the challenge of creating a platform to bridge Ngaanyatjarra knowledge and western knowledge so it could be taught alongside university courses. The key objectives were to store and annotate knowledge from a significant collection of community-owned paintings and present the media in a way that was meaningful to both Indigenous people and students. They partnered with vendor Holly to address this.

Holly spent four weeks on country with Ngaanyatjarra artists and elders for research and discovery. Their solution included creative, ontological, and technical design, 3D environment scanning, single page app development, and CMS implementation integrated with university systems. The result was a beautiful online portal for research and discovery, launched during NAIDOC week 2019, along with large touch-screens for use in the Community. Holly successfully delivered tools that make this important knowledge accessible.
