The Rivers Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to freshwater ecosystems, faced the significant challenge of restoring rivers across the UK and Ireland, none of which were in good overall health due to pollution and environmental pressures. Hogan Lovells entered a multi-year shared-value partnership to provide legal insight, community engagement, and environmental support to address this urgent issue.

Hogan Lovells delivered a comprehensive solution that included over £1.12 million in pro bono legal support across 26 projects, more than £263,000 in donations, and over 4,800 volunteering hours from its colleagues. This collaboration helped accelerate environmental improvements, develop financial models for ecosystem services, and raise public awareness, driving meaningful, long-term change for river recovery.
