High Tech High, an independent public charter school in San Diego, struggled each year with the labor- and cost-intensive process of mailing paper transcripts, school profiles, and teacher recommendations for college applications. Repeated mailings, thousands of dollars in postage and supplies, and limited ability to track submissions created hours of extra work for counselors and anxious calls from parents and colleges when items went missing.

Implementing Naviance eDocs let Director of College Counseling Chris White send electronic transcripts and recommendations to over 2,000 colleges (including all Common App institutions) with an “upload and send” workflow, delivery tracking, and teacher request management. The change all but eliminated paper mailings, cut postage and staffing costs (one registrar now supports five high schools), and freed staff time to proactively support the “middle third” of students — with estimated supply savings of $6,000 for 2,000 packets, $30,000 for 10,000, and $75,000 for 25,000.
