OPAL-RT Technologies Shares Two Decades of Timekeeping Benefits Using TimeControl

OPAL-RT Technologies, a Montreal-based real-time simulation company serving automotive, aerospace, power electronics, and power systems industries, needed a reliable way to track detailed employee time across complex R&D and project work. To support scheduling, payroll, and eligibility for Canadian SR&ED tax credits, the company relied on HMS Software’s TimeControl timekeeping system, which had been in use since 2002 and was later integrated with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Project, and Jira.

HMS Software implemented TimeControl Online along with API-based integrations and validation rules to improve data quality and connect time entries to OPAL-RT’s business systems. The result was better visibility into hours, project status, and resource use, plus smoother tax credit reporting and continuous process improvement; nearly 300 employees now use the system, and managers can spot variances earlier and make faster adjustments.
