A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Zhejiang Daily Press Group, one of China’s largest media organizations, faced deteriorating performance and rising risk on its Media Cube platform as unstructured image and video data exploded. The group’s aging NAS and FastDFS-based file system could not keep up with two million new objects a day, lacked lifecycle management and offered only basic protection. To address these issues, Zhejiang Daily Press Group turned to Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Content Platform solution.
Hitachi Vantara implemented Hitachi Content Platform (with G‑series access and F‑series storage nodes and platform software), migrating 2.1 billion objects and supporting an ongoing ingest of about 2 million new objects per day (projected +800 million in a year and +3 billion over three years at 30% growth). The deployment delivered faster file and metadata searches, automated online archiving, WORM and erasure‑coding protection that removes the need for traditional backups, and seamless scalability—improving user experience, reducing data‑loss risk, and simplifying data lifecycle management.
