Wilmar International Upgrades and Enhances Data Centers With Hitachi Data Protection Solutions

Wilmar International, a leading agribusiness group headquartered in Singapore, faced rapid growth that outpaced its Equinix data center: no SAN replication between Equinix and Epsilon, only a 1G link used for application traffic, and no robust business continuity or disaster recovery (DR) to meet near‑zero RPO requirements. Wilmar selected Hitachi Vantara to address scalability, backup and DR needs, leveraging Hitachi Unified Storage VM with Flash Modules, Hitachi Compute Blade 2000, and data protection software such as Hitachi Universal Replicator and Hitachi TrueCopy.

Hitachi Vantara designed and implemented a scalable on‑premises managed storage and DR solution—using DWDM links and Hitachi storage replication adapters to replicate Epsilon to Equinix—while working closely with Wilmar’s IT team during rapid deployment and testing. The deployment turned the passive Equinix site into a productive, scalable platform, delivered near‑zero RPO for virtual and physical machines and improved RTO to within 24 hours, substantially reducing recovery time and laying the foundation to roll out end‑to‑end business applications across the organization.
