A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Vereinigte Stadtwerke, a German energy supplier managing customer and operational SAP data for several towns, faced growing capacity and performance shortfalls as it launched two new SAP projects and prepared to partition systems to meet the German Energy Industry Act. To address this challenge, Vereinigte Stadtwerke selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2300 combined with Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning.
Hitachi Vantara, working with partner Comparex, implemented the AMS 2300 and Dynamic Provisioning to deliver active‑active controller performance, thin provisioning and non‑disruptive expansion. The deployment completed in about two weeks with no business impact, cut 0.5 TB backup times from 4–4.5 hours to 24 minutes (an improvement of at least 90%), improved scalability and energy efficiency, and provided faster recovery after a power failure—allowing Vereinigte Stadtwerke to defer a full replacement for years.
