University of the East Builds Virtual Infrastructure on Hitachi Unified Storage 100

University of the East faced an aging centralized data center (two cluster servers and storage from 2008) that struggled to keep up with growing BYOD use and rising application demand across its Manila and Caloocan campuses. To modernize its infrastructure and secure business continuity and disaster recovery, the university partnered with Hitachi Vantara and selected a Hitachi Unified Storage 100–based virtualization solution (using Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning and VMware).

Hitachi Vantara deployed HUS 100 as the backbone of a VMware-based virtual environment, complemented by Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning and F5 BIG‑IP LTM, enabling faster application delivery, improved IOPS and provisioning, and seamless BYOD access. The solution delivered measurable impact: students can process enrollment online, campus services run more efficiently, application performance improved (F5 accelerated some traffic up to 3x), and the university reports assured business continuity and recovery across campuses.
