A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
TSYS, a Fortune 2500 payments processor handling more than 50 million daily transactions for ~300 clients across 85 countries, faced rapidly growing stored data (35% YoY), strict PCI requirements for encryption of at‑rest data, limited data center space, and the need to reduce storage latency and migrate 40TB without service interruption. To meet those challenges TSYS engaged Hitachi Vantara and selected the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) alongside Hitachi Dynamic Provisioning, Hitachi Command Suite and residency services for the project.
Hitachi Vantara deployed VSP with 300TB usable capacity across four racks, hardware XTS‑AES 256‑bit encryption, Dynamic Provisioning and Hitachi Universal Replicator, enabling rapid server consolidation and virtualization. The implementation collapsed up to 150 physical servers to 30 VMware hosts, virtualized 40% of production and 90% of development servers, reduced storage latency tenfold (60 ms to <5 ms), improved database reorganization/maintenance times by 200%, moved 40TB without outage and was rolled out in 60 days — delivering measurable capacity, performance and compliance gains for TSYS.
