Tippett Studio Puts the Magic of Making Movies Into the Hands of Everyday Consumers Hitachi NAS Platform Stars Behind the Scenes

Tippett Studio, a celebrated visual effects and 3-D animation house, expanded from film work into consumer-facing offerings like the Efexio app and Tippett Creature Shop, creating massive volumes of high-resolution, shared media that demanded consistent high I/O performance, scalability and lower storage cost. To support its render farms, resource‑intensive workstations and around‑the‑clock collaboration, Tippett Studio selected Hitachi Vantara and deployed the Hitachi NAS Platform 3080 along with Hitachi Command Suite.

Hitachi Vantara implemented an HNAS 3080 two‑node cluster with intelligent file tiering, a hardware‑accelerated file system and unified management via Hitachi Command Suite, currently managing over 250 TB across two tiers. The solution delivers up to 1,100 MB/sec sequential throughput and up to 100,000 IOPS, optimizing capacity utilization, simplifying data management, reducing footprint and cutting wait times—enabling faster renders, higher artist productivity, predictable scheduling and more storage managed without adding staff.
