The City of Moreno Valley Boosts Public Safety, Traffic Efficiencies and Situational Awareness With Hitachi Visualization

The City of Moreno Valley needed a cost‑effective, citywide video system to improve public safety and traffic management across hilly terrain, freeways and near a military air base while operating under fiscal constraints. The City of Moreno Valley partnered with Hitachi Vantara to deploy Hitachi Visualization solutions, specifically the Hitachi Visualization Platform (HVP) edge devices and the cloud‑based Hitachi Visualization Suite (HVS).

Hitachi Vantara implemented clustered camera deployments (two fixed + one PTZ) and HVP gateways with HVS integration into CAD, traffic control and other city systems, rolling out 212 cameras in 10 months and expanding to 275 cameras plus select private feeds. The Hitachi Vantara solution delivered real‑time traffic management, faster emergency response and improved situational awareness—enabling investigation of more than 800 incidents in two years, centralized viewing across city locations, and retained footage on a 142 TB SAN.
