Case Study: Ministry of the Economy and Finance of Panama boosts storage performance with Hitachi Vantara

Supporting National Economic Development with a Streamlined Storage Infrastructure

The Ministry of the Economy and Finance of the Republic of Panama worked to support national economic development by improving the performance and availability of the applications and databases it relies on for fiscal management, policy planning, and reporting. Its aging legacy storage environment was reaching capacity and slowing access to Oracle and Microsoft SQL data, creating delays for users and management reporting. Hitachi Vantara provided the storage modernization path, centered on Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform systems.

Hitachi Vantara, working with partner Cable & Wireless Panama, implemented two Hitachi VSP E1090 NVMe flash arrays and two VSP E590H hybrid arrays, plus Hitachi Ops Center for centralized management. The new infrastructure delivered faster application response times, higher data throughput, 100% uptime, and a 69% reduction in data center rack space, shrinking the footprint from 26 units to eight. The Ministry also improved reporting speed, user productivity, and long-term scalability with support from Hitachi Vantara.
