Case Study: Sporting Goods Company achieves secure, highly available AWS migration with Hitachi Vantara

A Hitachi Vantara Case Study

Preview of the Sporting Goods Company Case Study

Sporting Goods Company Migrates Critical Enterprise Workloads to Cloud

Sporting Goods Company, a global retailer operating multiple brands, needed to move critical enterprise workloads—two applications that drive retail outlet operations and the supply chain—from an on‑premises data center to Amazon Web Services (AWS) with minimal downtime and maintained disaster recovery as several infrastructure contracts expired. The retailer engaged Hitachi Vantara (Cloud Migration Services) as an AWS partner for its migration and database expertise.

Hitachi Vantara delivered a custom AWS solution including infrastructure setup, database migration (using AWS Database Migration Service to move ~1 TB of PostgreSQL into Amazon RDS), multi‑AZ RDS for high availability, cross‑region read replicas and backup servers for disaster recovery, and VPC security hardening. The result was a highly secure, highly available architecture, an RPO reduced to nearly zero and RTO under two hours, elimination of a single point of failure with multi‑AZ load‑balanced applications, and lower database total cost of ownership via managed RDS.
