A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
SPAR Information and Communication Services (SPAR ICS), the IT arm of the SPAR Retail Group, faced a legacy physical infrastructure that constrained its ability to deliver omni‑channel retail services and innovate quickly. To regain agility and move to a service‑oriented model, SPAR ICS turned to Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere (UCP) and related managed services.
Hitachi Vantara implemented the UCP private‑cloud solution—including Hitachi VSP G1000/G200 storage, CB 2500/CB 500 compute blades, storage virtualization and analytics software, plus managed services—delivered via a service catalog with automated provisioning. The deployment cut new‑service introduction from days to hours, reduced application rollout from up to 10 weeks to two days, shifted spend from capex to opex, reduced errors, and freed IT staff to focus on innovation.
