Southern Apennine District Basin Authority Protects Water Sources with IoT Analytics

Southern Apennine District Basin Authority turned to Hitachi Vantara to help protect Southern Italy’s vital water resources from climate-driven threats, illegal abstraction, discharges, spills, and other natural and human hazards. The authority needed a way to continuously monitor water quality and availability across a wide territory and improve forecasting and prevention.

Hitachi Vantara implemented an IoT and analytics solution using Lumada Industrial Data Ops, Lumada Video Insights, Hitachi Content Intelligence, Hitachi Content Platform Anywhere, and Hitachi Content Platform to collect and analyze sensor, video, GIS, and weather data in real time. The result was improved visibility into anomalies, faster incident response through direct links to emergency services, better governance of hydrogeological risks, and stronger monitoring capabilities to support sustainability and climate-change resilience.
