Solido Hosting Expands Big Data Capability With Hitachi Storage Solution

Solido Hosting, a Danish provider managing data for major organizations and internet portals, faced exponential growth — capacity had quadrupled since 2011 and one customer required more than 100 TB of additional storage per month — and needed a scalable, low‑administration storage and archiving solution. Solido selected Hitachi Vantara (Hitachi Data Systems) and its unified storage portfolio, including Hitachi NAS Platform 3090, Hitachi Unified Storage 150, Hitachi Unified Storage VM and Hitachi Data Ingestor, to meet capacity, performance and cost requirements.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a unified storage architecture that separates metadata from data and deployed four Hitachi Unified Storage 150 systems (850 TB each) in Luxembourg plus HUS VM and NAS 3090 systems in Copenhagen, with Hitachi Data Ingestor for local caching and remote archiving. The Hitachi Vantara solution delivered improved resilience, redundancy and enterprise management, enabled Solido to support a customer growing by over 100 TB per month and plan toward a 10 PB environment, and reduced total cost of ownership while ensuring seamless access and faster recovery.
