A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Banco de Brasília (BRB), a 122-branch multiservice bank, needed to meet new Central Bank digital regulations and improve data availability, speed and security for customers and employees. Facing slow service during peak demand under its two-data-center replication setup, BRB partnered with Hitachi Vantara to modernize its infrastructure using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000, Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS) with Global-Active Device, and a VMware vSphere Metro Storage Cluster (vMSC).
Hitachi Vantara built an active-active virtualized data center that unites two arrays into a virtual storage machine (VSM) so geographically disparate nodes operate as a single cluster with local I/O. The solution simplified regulatory compliance, improved resilience and user experience, cut server response times by 90%, reduced storage replication bandwidth from 65% to 5%, and can bring ~1,500 servers online in about four minutes—setting a new benchmark for data center availability in Latin America.
