A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Shanghai PuXi Hospital, a large teaching hospital with growing PACS image volumes, faced failing back-end storage, aging hardware beyond warranty, limited capacity and slow retrieval times that threatened mission-critical imaging workloads. To address these challenges the hospital engaged Hitachi Vantara, deploying Hitachi Content Platform 500 and Hitachi Unified Storage (HUS 150 and HUS 110) along with implementation and health‑check services.
Hitachi Vantara delivered an intelligent object‑storage solution: HCP 500 for automated tiering and policy‑driven archival, HUS 150 (providing 160 TB for long‑term storage) and mirrored HUS 110 systems for high availability, plus automated load balancing and data protection. The deployment produced measurable benefits — uninterrupted PACS operations, faster image retrieval and high I/O throughput, simpler single‑platform management, dual‑location backups and reduced backup overhead and TCO — while enabling scalable, policy‑based retention for billions of file objects.
