SFS Group Implements Hitachi Data Protection Suite To Back Up, Restore and Rapidly Recover Mission-Critical Business Applications

SFS Group, a global manufacturer with 70 sales offices and 8,300 employees, needed to harmonize a patchwork of IT systems following growth by acquisition and to ensure its 20 mission-critical SAP applications stayed online. To standardize backup and recovery across sites and guarantee fast restores, SFS Group selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Data Protection Suite (HDPS) together with Hitachi Unified Compute Platform and Hitachi storage hardware.

Hitachi Vantara, working with Swisscom and Commvault, deployed HDPS as a single, automated backup and recovery solution, centralizing management and using IntelliSnap for application-aware snapshots. The implementation cut data protection management time by 20%, reduced total backup time to one hour with individual SAP backups averaging four minutes, and enabled full database recovery in as little as eight minutes (with copy speeds up to 380 MB/s), while automating retention and compliance and providing a single support path.
