Russian Car Manufacturer Upgrades and Streamlines Storage Infrastructure With Hitachi Technologies

OAO AVTOVAZ, a leading Russian car manufacturer, faced a fragmented, multi‑vendor IT and storage environment with diverse servers and legacy storage systems that could not easily scale or provide centralized corporate file services, virtualization support, or standardized Active Directory authentication. To address these challenges the company engaged Hitachi Vantara and deployed solutions including Hitachi Unified Storage 130, Hitachi NAS Platform 3090 and Hitachi Command Suite to consolidate and modernize its file and content infrastructure.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a clustered HNAS/HUS platform with NFS access for Citrix and KVM, staged AD integration and automated home‑directory provisioning, and expanded the virtualization platform. The result was simpler administration (a single administrator can manage network file storage), transparent Active Directory authentication, resilient local clustering with automatic failover, improved storage efficiency via run‑time allocation, and systems that can scale to three times their current volume and performance—delivering reduced downtime, faster rollout of new services and clear ROI.
