Rainforest Connection Helps Prevent Illegal Deforestation with Hitachi Vantara Partnership

Rainforest Connection is the first platform to generate real-time bio-acoustic data on deforestation to combat illegal tree poaching, but needed an infrastructure able to process large volumes of data in real time and deliver advanced analytics for longer lead times. To meet this challenge it partnered with Hitachi Vantara, using Hitachi Vantara Cloud Migration and App Modernization Services, Cloud Data Lake Services and a CI/CD-enabled cloud platform to support a predictive model and composable data lake.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a predictive modeling and agile cloud solution—simplifying the transition from AWS to Google Cloud, building a scalable, secure cloud Data Lake and enabling continuous integration/delivery—which provides rangers with advance warning of illegal logging. As a result, Rainforest Connection now processes real-time acoustic alerts and longer-lead analytics to safeguard bio-acoustic data, helping save more trees and animals and reduce global carbon emissions.
