Case Study: Raiffeisen Bank Serbia achieves accelerated cloud-native transformation and workforce upskilling with Hitachi Vantara

A Hitachi Vantara Case Study

Preview of the Raiffeisen Bank Serbia Case Study

Raiffeisen Bank International had to tackle both organizational and operational complexity

Raiffeisen Bank Serbia, part of the Raiffeisen Bank International network, faced a pandemic-driven imperative to become cloud-native while managing a complex, decentralized banking group, legacy technical debt, and fierce competition for cloud talent. The bank set ambitious targets — building new applications in the cloud, migrating at least 50% of legacy apps, and large-scale staff upskilling — and partnered with Hitachi Vantara for consulting, specialized engineering and access to regional and global engineering resources to help define strategy and accelerate migration.

Hitachi Vantara performed a detailed application assessment (Sept 2021–Jan 2022) using a TCO approach to build the business case, ran lighthouse migrations, and established an “RBI Migration Factory” that blended Hitachi teams with upskilled bank staff to transfer knowledge and reduce vendor dependence over time. The engagement delivered organized governance (CCoE, cloud-account decisions), measurable KPIs (% of apps on cloud and staff trained), enabled ongoing application migrations, and yielded cost savings as a byproduct while positioning Raiffeisen Bank Serbia for self-sustained cloud operations with Hitachi Vantara’s continued support.
