A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
PierianDx, a precision medical research company that provides the Clinical Genomicist Workspace (CGW), needed a scalable, secure way to store and process the terabytes of raw data generated by next‑generation sequencing (each human genome sequence can be ~100 GB). The company required massively parallel compute that could scale on a pay‑as‑you‑use basis and operate in a HIPAA‑compliant environment. To meet those needs PierianDx selected Hitachi Vantara and Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its vendor and cloud platform.
Hitachi Vantara built and migrated PierianDx’s hybrid solution onto AWS, implemented automated genomics workflows on Amazon EC2, and provides ongoing managed services to maintain HIPAA compliance. As a result—with Hitachi Vantara managing infrastructure, security and compliance—PierianDx can store and process terabytes of NGS data (hundreds of gigabytes per genome) on demand, accelerate time‑to‑results through MPP scaling, and eliminate heavy IT overhead so its clinical teams can focus on delivering personalized medicine.
