A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
St. Antonius Ziekenhuis, a multi-site clinical hospital in the Netherlands, struggled with patient and research data trapped in departmental silos that prevented hospital-wide analysis of emergency room wait times and operating-theater occupation and made HL7-compliant reporting difficult. To break down those silos and gain a holistic view for clinicians and administrators, the hospital selected Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho Business Analytics and Pentaho Data Integration platform.
Hitachi Vantara implemented Pentaho to centralize data into a Data Vault, enable HL7-based data exchange, and deliver reporting, dashboards, data mining and self-service analysis to doctors and staff. As a result, St. Antonius Ziekenhuis achieved measurable improvements including a reported 20% reduction in emergency room turnaround times, faster optimization of surgery room processes and staffing, easier government reporting, and the ability for a three-person IT team to roll out BI hospital-wide; the hospital also contributed its HL7 API back to the Pentaho open source community.
