Pentaho Helps the Rio Negro Province to Recover Money and Prepare for the Future

Agencia de Recaudación Tributaria, the Provincial Revenue Agency of Río Negro (ARTRN), faced rising latency and long wait times to produce the management reports and ad-hoc analyses needed for timely tax enforcement. To enable self-service analytics and migrate away from Oracle Warehouse Builder, Hitachi Vantara (Pentaho) was engaged, using Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics to deliver flexible, user-friendly, real-time reporting.

Hitachi Vantara implemented Pentaho Data Integration to load, update and orchestrate a new data warehouse and Pentaho Business Analytics (including OLAP via Pentaho Analysis/Mondrian) for visualization and ad-hoc analysis, replacing the legacy ETL. The integrated solution sped up reporting, reduced IT intervention, improved maintenance and scalability, and empowered business users to detect nonpaying taxpayers — helping ARTRN recover 81 million Argentine pesos in unpaid tax and debt in 2014, a result the agency attributes to its new Pentaho-based analytics.
