Online Data Cloud, an IT services provider supporting mission‑critical applications like invoice messaging and airline EDI, needed a scalable, low‑latency storage platform to handle rapidly growing transaction volumes and stricter performance SLAs. After more than a decade using Hitachi Vantara solutions, ODC sought to replace aging mechanical disk arrays with an all‑flash architecture — selecting the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G700 (VSP G700) to meet its performance and capacity needs.

Hitachi Vantara migrated ODC’s legacy arrays to the VSP G700 in an eight‑day cutover, delivering a new all‑flash environment that enabled rapid remote‑work scaling during COVID‑19 and expanded virtual desktop services for clients. The upgrade produced a 30x performance boost (tasks cut from 15 minutes to 30 seconds), a 75% reduction in rack space (occupying 25% of previous footprint), three times the capacity with 800 TB of flash to cover roughly three years of growth, and headroom to scale to 2 PB per rack — measurable gains that helped ODC meet its financial targets.
