A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Ocean University of China, a Project 985/211 comprehensive university with over 40,000 students and 3,000 faculty across three campuses, faced fragmented storage, data silos, weak disaster recovery and insecure FTP-based file sharing that hindered teaching, research and mobile access. Hitachi Vantara was engaged to modernize the campus IT by deploying Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), HCP Anywhere, NAS and high‑availability software to build a next‑generation private cloud and campus cloud drive.
Hitachi Vantara implemented VSP-based active‑active data centers (Laoshan and Yushan) with synchronous replication and HAM/TrueCopy, plus HCP/HCP Anywhere for multitenant file management and mobility. The solution delivered secure, flexible cloud file sharing accessible anywhere, automated failover with “zero” data loss and continuous operations, streamlined homework collection and research collaboration, and measurable gains in productivity and reduced management cost for the university’s 40,000 students and 3,000 faculty.
