Mercateo, a leading B2B e‑procurement platform operating in 14 European countries with 100,000 active business customers in Germany, faced the challenge of optimizing sales and daily pricing for some 400 million items while giving 200 business users fast, flexible access to enterprise data. To meet this need, Mercateo partnered with Hitachi Vantara and selected Lumada portfolio products—Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics—to consolidate disparate data sources and create a centralized analytics platform.
Hitachi Vantara implemented Pentaho to build a single source of truth—processing transaction, product and machine‑learning data from SAP, Oracle, PostgreSQL and custom sources—deployed in AWS with automated DevOps. The solution delivers self‑service analytics to 200 users across 14 countries, turning insights from weeks into hours, handling updates for 400 million items daily, reducing IT effort through automation and improving availability and cost efficiency; it also enabled new services like the B2B Radar report and freed the small data science team to focus on value‑add work.
