A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Marquis Software, the maker of a statewide electronic Offender Management Information System (eOMIS), needed an end-to-end big data integration and analytics platform to consolidate more than 900 data fields and sources, automate processing, and provide real-time, scalable access as prisons faced overcrowding and limited staff. Tracking over 400,000 inmates, 200,000 medical records and 600,000 individuals under community supervision — with 130,000 daily users across 400 correctional facilities and 600 offices in eight states — Marquis chose Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics to meet these challenges.
Hitachi Vantara implemented the Pentaho platform to deliver seamless integration, automated data processing and governed self-service analytics, enabling Marquis to provide real-time access to hundreds of thousands of users. As a result, large state correctional departments can make fact-based decisions, Marquis groups inmates by medical risk, separates at‑risk individuals, tracks prisoner movements to anticipate confrontations, and supports hundreds of thousands of governed users — improving inmate management and lowering operational and legal risk.
