A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Magyar Telekom, Hungary’s largest telecom operator, faced rapidly growing smartphone-driven data volumes that were pushing its back-end storage toward full capacity and risking service disruption. To modernize and simplify its environment the company engaged Hitachi Vantara, deploying Hitachi Unified Storage VM, Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) G400 and G800 systems and Hitachi Accelerated Flash along with Hitachi storage software and services.
Hitachi Vantara consolidated Magyar Telekom’s heterogeneous storage onto a single virtualized, hybrid-flash platform (5 HUS VM systems with ~5PB capacity and multiple VSP systems), enabling faster, easier management and scaling. The deployment boosted application performance sixfold, supports ~10% annual data growth, cut storage footprint by 26.5%, improved performance for some 300–400 business users, and greatly reduced the risk of unplanned downtime.
