Global Chemical and Pyrotechnical Products Manufacturing Company faced costly recalls and needed to identify product failures in-process, increase operational productivity, and determine root causes in real time. To address these challenges they engaged Hitachi Vantara and its Lumada IoT Platform with Predictive Quality Management capabilities.

Hitachi Vantara deployed Lumada’s solution — a single data lake with real-time predictive analytics, depth‑sensing cameras, IoT sensors and advanced algorithms to monitor human and machine behavior, detect assembly-line deviations, and trace defects by serial number. The implementation reduced production costs by more than 10% (yielding multimillion‑dollar savings), achieved near‑zero defects at shipment, improved product quality and worker productivity, and is being expanded to six additional sites.
