A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Kufstein District Hospital, a 1,000‑staff regional care center in Tyrol, faced rapidly growing PACS imaging and electronic health record data, stringent compliance needs, and tight budgets and staffing. To ensure always‑available, centralized storage and a future‑proof, cost‑efficient environment, the hospital selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G200 (VSP G200) to replace legacy infrastructure and support continuous digital patient services.
Hitachi Vantara implemented the VSP G200 with Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System and automated tiering, enabling nondisruptive migration, active‑active resiliency and simplified administration. As a result Kufstein increased virtualized storage from 11 TB to 16 TB, nearly doubled PACS capacity from 34 TB to 60 TB, gained 24/7 application availability, and reduced management overhead — delivering measurable cost efficiencies and faster access to patient records that improve diagnoses and care.
