A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), a government-owned leader in aerospace and defense, was struggling with rapidly growing data from VMware, Exchange, SQL Server and Oracle workloads that slowed storage performance and caused backups and scheduled jobs to run into production time. To address this, IAI engaged Hitachi Vantara and adopted Hitachi flash solutions—deploying Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) G800 and G600 arrays with flash modules and hybrid-flash, active-active storage software.
Hitachi Vantara consolidated part of IAI’s estate onto the VSP arrays, applied automated data tiering and global-active device for active-active sharing, and managed a two-month migration. The Hitachi Vantara solution cut backup times by over 30% (33% reported), reduced database export times from 4 hours to 1 hour (75% improvement), lowered IT administration workload by 15%, and delivered better availability and flexible, independent scalability of compute and storage.
