Innovating Mission-Critical Data Storage with Cloud Operations Model for the BMW Group

BMW Group, the global premium automotive manufacturer, needed a way to deliver fast, reliable, cost-efficient, and sustainable data storage as a service across more than 30 production sites worldwide. To support its mission-critical operations, the company challenged the market for a vendor that could provide zero-downtime, ultra-low-latency, and highly scalable storage, and selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi EverFlex managed infrastructure model.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a global, consumption-based EverFlex IaaS solution built on Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform 5600 enterprise storage systems. The result was fully redundant, high-performance storage for 60 PB of mission-critical data, zero RTO and RPO for vital systems, seamless scalability to support 120x data growth, improved cost-efficiency, and stronger sustainability outcomes.
