Infosys Speeds Operations With VMware Virtualization for SAP HANA on Hitachi Unified Compute Platform

Infosys, a global leader in consulting and technology services, needed to speed up deployment of SAP HANA demos at its India Centre of Excellence, scale to meet growing demand, and cut high operating costs (power, cooling, manpower and data center space). To modernize the CoE infrastructure and enable virtualization, Infosys engaged Hitachi Vantara and adopted the Hitachi UCP for SAP HANA alongside VMware vSphere.

Hitachi Vantara delivered a converged Hitachi UCP for SAP HANA (Hitachi Compute Blade 500 and Unified Storage VM) integrated with VMware vSphere, plus SAP HANA VM templates and SUSE OS images to enable rapid provisioning and high availability. The solution cut deployment time to ~20 minutes for HANA VMs and ~120 minutes for applications, reduced manpower costs by about 85%, lowered infrastructure costs 2.5x, slashed power requirements by 96%, and reduced rack space by 45%, allowing Infosys to scale demos and improve overall ROI.
