Hong Kong Broadband Network needed to modernize a fragmented, heterogeneous server environment that was slowing project rollouts, complicating maintenance and driving up costs. To address infrastructure upgrades, migration risk and lack of standardization, the customer engaged Hitachi Vantara and adopted Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere, Hitachi Unified Compute Platform Director and cloud migration/implementation services.

Hitachi Vantara converged HKBN’s physical and virtual infrastructure, delivering a 99.999% SLA and completing implementation and migration in 90 days, with 60 systems moved within a week. The UCP solution and UCP Director enabled administrators to manage roughly 3x the servers (from ~30–50 to 100–150), host a CRM for 1,500 users, reduce racks from 10 to 2, cut electricity costs by 40%, speed application deployment and shorten provisioning—freeing IT resources for other priorities.
