A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), New Zealand’s government injury-insurer, needed better visibility, control and higher infrastructure performance as it prepared to move more services to a hybrid cloud. To meet demanding VDI and transaction workloads (up to an estimated 56,000 IOPS for peak log‑ons) and strict data-governance requirements, ACC engaged Hitachi Vantara and adopted an all‑virtual storage strategy using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, Hitachi Accelerated Flash and Hitachi Dynamic Tiering.
Hitachi Vantara consolidated ACC’s two data centers onto a single VSP platform with flash and dynamic tiering, completing a complex migration in under six months. The solution delivered 1.2 PB of high‑performance storage, three storage tiers, sub‑millisecond response times, up to 56,000 IOPS for VDI, and support for 2,000–3,000 concurrent users; overall storage virtualization rose from ~60% to 95%. Hitachi Vantara’s implementation and managed services also set ACC up to use Hitachi Content Platform and NAS for archival and cloud on‑ramping, reducing backup costs and easing future cloud porting.
