A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Global and Regional Telecom Firm faced slow, costly rollouts because it built standalone deployments for each enterprise customer and needed a more scalable, efficient hosting model. To modernize and cut operating and capital expenses while supporting multitenancy and higher availability, the company engaged Hitachi Vantara to deploy Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) Select for Microsoft Private Cloud together with Microsoft Private Cloud technologies.
Hitachi Vantara implemented a validated, preconfigured private-cloud stack (UCP Select for Microsoft Private Cloud) and delivered a one-week proof of concept that included Microsoft Lync, Exchange, System Center, 40 VMs and Active Directory. The new platform gave the firm a six-week integration head start, raised capacity from servicing 5,000–30,000 users per platform to supporting at least 1.2 million users, enabled five‑nines SLAs versus typical three‑nines, and—for a regional deployment—supported 1,000 initial VMs with zero downtime, a 10‑month full rollout and plans to scale to 15,000 VMs at maturity.
