A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Toto-Lotto Niedersachsen, the state lottery operator for Lower Saxony, faced a heterogeneous, hard-to-maintain storage landscape that threatened the reliability, security and scalability of systems supporting two weekly lottery draws and roughly EUR 680M turnover. After evaluating multiple vendors, Toto-Lotto Niedersachsen chose a Hitachi Vantara solution (implemented via partner COMPAREX) using Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2300 and Hitachi Content Platform to meet strict availability, data-integrity and multitenancy requirements.
Hitachi Vantara deployed two AMS 2300 and two HCP systems in a mirrored data center, integrated via open interfaces with Symantec Enterprise Vault and Easy Archive, and completed migration in a two-day window in June 2011 with no user disruption. The Hitachi Vantara solution increased capacity and I/O performance to handle peaks of about 250 tickets/second, cut administration costs by 30% through consolidation, improved capacity utilization and security (earning industry recognition), and enabled plans to connect more than 2,000 sales outlets directly to the new infrastructure.
