Hitachi NAS Platform Makes the “A List” for Highly Successful Visual Effects Studio Requiring Rapid, Secure Data Movement

Soho VFX, a Toronto-based visual effects studio known for major film credits, faced rapidly growing storage and data‑movement challenges as project sizes, artist counts and deadlines increased. To support high‑bandwidth rendering, secure central access and scalable capacity, the studio chose Hitachi Vantara’s Hitachi NAS Platform 3090 (formerly BlueArc Mercury) to modernize its file and content workflows.

Hitachi Vantara deployed a clustered 2‑node Hitachi NAS Platform 3090 delivering 102 TB of Tier‑1 SAS plus 37 TB of nearline storage, NFS support for VMware vSphere, and hardware‑accelerated throughput. The solution provided rock‑solid, high‑performance NAS with simplified web‑based management—transforming a dedicated storage role into a manageable IT task—enabled rapid, secure data movement across large productions, and allowed Soho VFX to grow from an initial 18 TB to the current capacity while improving productivity and scalability.
