Hitachi Forges Clear Path to the Cloud for Higher Education

Ellucian, the global leader in higher education software, needed to migrate an extensive, heterogeneous portfolio of more than 80 product lines to the cloud to better serve customers and accelerate innovation. Introduced to REAN Cloud (now part of Hitachi Vantara) via AWS, Ellucian faced the challenge of moving complex, multi-technology applications to multiple endpoints (on‑prem, hybrid, AWS, private cloud) while reducing cost and operational risk.

Hitachi Vantara (through the former REAN Cloud team) built a CI/CD DevOps pipeline on AWS—using EC2, CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Ansible and related tools—automating integration, testing and image-based deployments and proving multi-region failover in Virginia and Sydney. The solution automated delivery across product lines, accelerated feature releases with higher quality, enabled cloud adoption at scale, and delivered multimillion‑dollar operational savings.
