A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Tianjin Haihe Hospital, the designated public‑health emergency hospital in Tianjin, faced a fragmented, siloed IT environment that could not support rapid growth or handle the performance bursts required during emergencies—especially for its PACS (picture archiving and communications system). To consolidate resources, improve PACS performance and ensure high availability and data protection, Tianjin Haihe Hospital engaged Hitachi Vantara to deliver a file-and-content infrastructure upgrade using Hitachi NAS Platform 3080 (HNAS), Hitachi Unified Storage 130/110 and professional services.
Hitachi Vantara implemented a unified NAS/SAN platform with an HNAS 3080 cluster for PACS and HUS 100‑series unified storage for structured and unstructured data, plus incremental backups to a secondary HUS for fast local recovery. The solution—delivered in under six months with the hospital’s seven IT staff—removed I/O bottlenecks, enabled concurrent access, simplified PACS management (single file system up to 256 TB and directories up to 16 million files), and dramatically improved information access speed, diagnosis efficiency, reliability and business continuity.
