A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Jiangsu Patent Information Center, part of the State Intellectual Property of P.R.C., faced a fragmented legacy IT environment from multiple suppliers, inefficient server utilization, and rapidly growing volumes of unstructured patent documents that must be stored permanently. To simplify management, speed deployment, and enable a private patent cloud, the center engaged Hitachi Vantara and selected solutions including Hitachi Unified Compute Platform for VMware vSphere and Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), alongside Hitachi NAS Platform 3080.
Hitachi Vantara implemented a converged private cloud and content-cloud architecture (UCP with UCP Director, Compute Blades, Virtual Storage Platform, HNAS 3080 and HCP) to virtualize compute and automate data lifecycle policies. The deployment cut go‑live time from months to weeks, reduced VM deployment from four hours to about 15 minutes, accelerated search performance roughly fourfold, and lowered required storage for patent files by about 40%, while improving management simplicity, data integrity and overall TCO.
