Hitachi Consulting helps Wolseley with supply chain transformation

Wolseley, the UK’s largest plumbing, heating and cooling trade specialist (part of Ferguson plc), needed to modernize its supply chain to gain a single view of stock and improve forecasting, distribution centre management, procurement and inventory processes. Wolseley engaged Hitachi Vantara (via Hitachi Consulting) to deliver a MultiCloud Acceleration Solution and Oracle Enterprise Modernization using Oracle Cloud SaaS, PaaS and IaaS to drive this transformation.

Hitachi Vantara ran a successful proof of concept by June 2017 and moved into process design and implementation, deploying Oracle Cloud modules to centralize planning and stock management. The solution delivered improved visibility and planning across Wolseley’s network, reduced the need for buffer stock, and enabled better customer service and lower operational costs, while the modular Oracle approach allowed incremental rollout and risk-managed modernization.
