Health Clinic Improves Chronic Care With Pentaho

At the Bedlam Longitudinal Clinic at the University of Oklahoma School of Community Medicine, Dr. Ronald Saizow needed a way to teach panel management to collaborative teams of medical, nursing, pharmacy, and social work students. The clinic also wanted a business analytics platform to help professors and students measure progress as they treated uninsured patients with chronic illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension.

Hitachi Vantara’s Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics were used to create customized reports that let students track blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels and see how patients responded to specific interventions. The solution helped the clinic provide consistent, preventive care without requiring patients to be present and gave students an evidence-based treatment protocol that supported more aggressive treatments and better outcomes.
