HDS Helps Liaohe Oilfield Branch of CNPC Build a Unified Storage System for Seismic Information Processing

Liaohe Oilfield Branch of CNPC, a large state-owned energy enterprise and the third largest oilfield in China, needed a high-performance, reliable and scalable unified storage platform to support seismic information processing, centralized file access and long-term data retention. Hitachi Vantara provided the solution, leveraging Hitachi NAS Platform 3090 gateways and Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage 2500 to integrate with the site’s blade-server Linux cluster and oilfield processing software.

Hitachi Vantara implemented a 2-node HNAS 3090 front end connected via IP to computing clusters and via Fibre Channel SAN to AMS 2500 backend storage, delivering high SpecSFS-class performance, NFS/CIFS interoperability, and virtualized, scalable capacity. The deployment consolidated resources for centralized file sharing and management, improved seismic processing throughput and availability, simplified operations, and lowered total cost of ownership for Liaohe Oilfield Branch of CNPC.
