A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
The First People’s Hospital of Yibin, a Level‑3 Grade‑A general hospital in Sichuan Province with multiple branches and nearly 1,400 beds, faced rapid data growth, siloed infrastructure, performance bottlenecks and long backup windows that threatened uptime for core systems (HIS, CIS, LIS, EMR, PACS). To build a secure, scalable private cloud and improve performance and data protection, the hospital selected Hitachi Vantara and its Hitachi Unified Storage VM (HUS VM) with flash and Hitachi Data Instance Manager.
Hitachi Vantara delivered a unified, virtualized HUS VM platform with flash, dynamic tiering, QoS controls and data instance management to centralize storage, enable nondisruptive expansion and provide continuous protection. The solution cut core I/O latency to under 1 ms, reduced HIS response time by 18% and CIS by 30%, decreased manual backup time by 75%, and enabled migration of dozens of terabytes of PACS data within about a 30‑minute downtime window — improving stability, scalability and reducing planned downtime.
