GRZ IT Center Gains Private Cloud Security and Control at Public Cloud Prices

GRZ IT Center, an Austrian IT services provider for regional banks, faced intense price pressure from global public cloud vendors and needed to cut costs dramatically while keeping services on-premises for security and control. To meet this challenge, GRZ IT Center chose Hitachi Vantara, deploying Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G800 hybrid‑flash arrays, Hitachi Compute Blade 500 servers, Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS) with Dynamic Tiering, and managed operations from Hitachi Vantara Global Services Solutions to consolidate and automate its VMware environment.

Hitachi Vantara’s solution automated storage administration and simplified management, enabling GRZ IT Center to cut costs by over two thirds, save the equivalent of 87 working days of manual system administration per year, and reduce system latency by up to 50%. The deployment lets GRZ IT Center match public cloud storage prices while keeping data in-house with improved performance and control, and it has already sped VM provisioning from roughly two weeks to about one week with further acceleration planned.
