Global Technology Solutions Provider Consolidates Distributed Desktops in a Centrally Managed Hitachi Environment

iGATE, a global technology and operations provider, faced strained IT resources as employees in three Indian locations ran hundreds of dispersed desktops that were time‑consuming to manage, backup and secure. To centralize management and reduce TCO, iGATE engaged Hitachi Vantara for a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution using Hitachi Compute Blade 500 and Hitachi Unified Storage VM (with Citrix for desktop delivery).

Hitachi Vantara delivered an integrated VDI environment that pooled desktops in the data center to improve performance, scalability, availability and data protection; the deployment already covers 1,200 endpoints and is planned to expand to 3,000 users within 10–12 months. The Hitachi Vantara solution lowered projected capital and operating costs, simplified OS migrations and patching to reduce desktop downtime, enhanced security and made regulatory compliance easier while enabling faster provisioning and greater IT agility.
