A Hitachi Vantara Case Study
Foxtel, one of Australia’s leading broadcasters serving 2.3 million homes, needed to replace a tape-based archive and fundamentally upgrade its enterprise compute, media asset management and storage to scale for thousands of hours of new content and new channels. Foxtel engaged Hitachi Data Systems to build a single, flexible “content factory,” leveraging Hitachi Unified Storage, Hitachi NAS Platform 3090, Hitachi Compute Rack 220 and Compute Blade 2000 with Hi-Track remote monitoring to manage, search and protect a single “gold” copy of all content.
Hitachi Data Systems delivered a customized hybrid compute and converged NAS/SAN solution with off-site testing and rapid integration; the platform exceeded Foxtel’s performance expectations by over 75%, revitalized workflows by eliminating duplicate ingests and re-encodes, and enabled fast, scalable rollout of new services and formats—reducing operational complexity and speeding time-to-deploy for new delivery platforms.
